Ebenezer Christian School utilizes the A.C.E. curriculum. Most schools look alike on the surface, curriculum, personnel, building, and budgets. Ebenezer Christian School is different, under the A.C.E program. The program’s philosophy is built on basic principles of the Word of God. Students are taught to see life from God’s point of view, to take responsibility for their own learning, and to walk in Godly wisdom and character.
This unique program consists of mastery-based curriculum and materials that are self –instructional, character building, and individually prescribed. This curriculum is built upon the three levels of Learning, and five basic laws of learning.
Three Levels of Learning:
- Knowledge – Before adolescence, children focus on each new concept from a mastery viewpoint—line upon line, precept upon precept; focuses on the, who, what, where, and when of information.
- Understanding – With adolescence, students concentrate on concepts that expand to the abstract or cognitive level which focuses on the why and how.
- Wisdom – ACE curriculum is distinctive in its inclusion of wisdom as a deliberate aspect of the learning process.
Five basic laws of learning:
- Students must be at levels where they can perform.
- Reasonable goals must be set.
- Students must be controlled and motivated.
- Learning must be measurable.
- Learning must be rewarded.
The PACEs the curriculum is designed on twelve levels of work. In any given subject, an average of twelve PACEs should be completed by the student.
The average student who works on 6 subjects of the core A.C.E. curriculum completes about 72 PACEs per year. Therefore, students memorize at least 72 Bible verses, plus 9 major portions of Scripture each year!
Some students may do more or less. No student should be held back or left behind.
Students from 1st through 4th grades work in six subjects: Math, English, Word Building, and Creative Writing Social Studies, Science.
Students in 5th through 8th grades work in five subjects Math, English, Word Building, and Creative Writing Social Studies, Science. Students in high School may choose six subjects.
For High School, students must complete twelve paces to earn one credit. A student should complete a total of 72 PACEs in a school year.
A student must score an average of 80% on a test. A student must rework a PACE if he or she fails to achieve that score. Each quarter, students should complete 3 PACEs from each working subject; however, students are encouraged to do as much as they can. A student is placed into a level that matches his or her capability, and not necessarily into his or her grade after taking a diagnostic. While students are still considered part of their grade, the numbered system ACE uses indicates their level and allows them to work and focus on these different levels regardless of their grade.
Therefore at Ebenezer Christian School, Inc., our students are trained to engage in productive learning practices at all times.
Whether the student is a high achiever or a moderately paced learner, the ACE, educational process proceeds at the exact level determined by the child’s ability.
